The B.C. seniors home renovation tax credit assists individuals 65 and over with the cost of certain permanent home renovations to improve accessibility or help a senior be more functional or mobile at home.
You’re eligible to claim the credit for the year if on the last day of the tax year you’re:
The renovation must be to your principal residence, which is the home you primarily live in (including a non-seasonal mobile home).
The credit can be shared between eligible residents of the home to a maximum amount of the credit. The maximum amount of the credit is $1,000 per tax year and is calculated as 10% of the qualifying renovation expense (maximum $10,000 in expenses). The credit is a refundable tax credit, which means if the credit is higher than the taxes you owe, you’ll receive the difference as a refund.
The renovation or alteration must help a senior with an impairment by:
The main purpose of the renovation can't be to increase the value of the home or land.
It seems like Christmas happens faster every year, maybe because Walmart starts displaying Christmas decor before we are done with Halloween. It's December 1 and you can feel free to get in the spirit. Here are my top ways to do it.
Nothing gets me in the spirit faster than my favorites Christmas songs. I have it setup in Itunes, everything from Nat King Cole to Faith Hill. My mix has both new songs and old ones that bring back memories. It is located on Pryde Avenue off Bowen Road.
There are many Rums on the market but for Rum and Egg Nogg I like it dark and smooth. My top pick would be Cruzan Black Strap but Lambs Navy will do. You can also mix in a little Cognac for extra smooth finish. Take the time to find fresh whole nutmeg to grate over top. If you are making the egg nogg from scratch; my recipe uses 6 egg yolks, 1 cup sugar, 2 cups milk, 1/2 cup rum, 1/2 cup cognac,1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup cream, 6 whipped egg whites. Take away everyones car keys before you serve this !
The smell alone will bring back Christmas memories.
This Christmas tradition started in 1987. It is usually the last Thursday in November
Hang up your lights and if you have a senior next door that should not be on a ladder help them with their lights.
November single family home sales were the same as last November but up 20% 12 months to date. The average home price is up 6% YTD $390,533.
17 Condo sold in November and inventories are down from last November. Lot sales are down from last year and the average lot price is also down 3% (12 moths to date).
