Nanaimo has many wonderfully luxury homes with amazing ocean views. On a clear day you can see Vancouver and the mountain ranges beyond. With the baby boomers retiring there has been more and more demand for high end custom houses. Many retirees formerly living in colder climates want an ocean view and the ability to play golf most of the year. Nanaimo is blessed with not only one of the most moderate climates but spectacular views. Nanaimo waterfront homes are a bargain compared to what the same home would cost in Vancouver.

As of March 20, 2007 there are about 52 listings in Nanaimo over $700,000. There have been aprox. 53 sales of homes over $700,000 in 2005. Since 1992 only 82 homes exceeded $700,000 39% of them were either listed, sold or both listed and sold by RE/MAX. (Statistics are as of March 2007).
